@lizze.gordon: What’s a defining moment

@lizze.gordon: What’s a defining moment in your life? When I was in 6th grade I dyed my hair purple. Not because I was acting out, or making a statement, just because I liked the color purple. When I got to school, I was teased, I was laughed at; I was devastated. I played sick, and called my mom to come pick me up. I showered three times a day and scrubbed my hair until the purple faded to grey, and I wore hoods and hats to school until it completely washed out. At the first middle school student, parent teacher conference my teacher brought up my hair to my mother, “Lizze must be looking for some kind of negative attention, is there trouble at home?” I was mortified, and my mother was PISSED. For the first time in my life, I realized that most of the world bases its beliefs off biases and cheap stereotypes. That day I decided that I would never subscribe to such nonsense. I treat every person as an individual, and I do my best to remember that everyone’s differences are unifying, and toss out any and all preconceived notions. #thereelwomen #girlboss #women #womenoflight #picoftheday #photooftheday #female #love #film #television #TV #media #art #FilmEquality #womeninfilm #femalefilmmakers #empoweringwomen #womenempower #betterhollywood #womendirect #HireaMs #movies #movielover #create #me #happy #ladyboss #bosslady #girlgang #goals
