@krystalvayda: What advice do you have for other women in the industry? Learn the business. Seriously, learn the business of entertainment so you can understand how the commercial and creative components work together to bring film and television to the screen. In hindsight, this is one area I wish I would have paid attention to at an earlier stage in my career just so I could have better understood the full experience of working in the entertainment industry. Be agile, be very agile with your time and your roles. I’ve found that having the ability to adapt is a good skill to attain out here and being able to pivot under any circumstance will keep you sane and conditioned for the marathon of a creative career.
Do your best with time management and find “balance” between your personal and professional life. After all “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy.” I take my career seriously but try not to take myself too seriously and always find time to enjoy my friends and the wonderful experiences the City of Angels has to offer. Stay focused on your goals and always follow your dreams. You can achieve anything you want in life, if you are willing to make sacrifices and stay the course with commitment. Last but not least., “No” is not an answer, don’t take it as one. Ever.
Krystal’s film, “Consult and Conquer” is having its World Premier at the Chelsea Film Festival! It premieres Saturday October 15 at 11am in the short film series 4. You can buy tickets here: http://www.chelseafilm.org/consult-and-conquer/
