@indigovalleyfilm: What is a successful

@indigovalleyfilm: What is a successful moment in your career so far? There are two. Getting into the London Film School for Screenwriting and getting into the American Film Institute for Directing. I had always wanted to move to London (it’s my favorite city in the world) and I got to spend a year writing, directing, and working with a great group of like minded filmmakers, many of whom are on board for my first feature Indigo Valley. I was thrilled to find my cinematographer Irene Gomez-Emilsson through the LFS, and also my powerhouse producer Courtney Harmstone. Two women that I hope to continue working with far beyond Indigo Valley. How great to have women in those roles! My third cycle film at AFI was an all women team and all women cast (the first of our year!) and that made me really happy, so the second was getting into AFI because I didn’t think I would get in. The first thing I had ever directed was the film I submitted with the application. It was a really personal story based on my first relationship and we literally made it in one night in my tiny studio flat in London that doubles as an airport hotel in the film. I had no idea if it was good. I was passionate about it and people seemed to react to it. It’s called Between Departures and it is available online to watch. It went on to play around twelve festivals, from big ones to smaller ones, and won a few awards which was crazy. I was, and still am so grateful.
