A successful moment in my career so far was winning two Silver Telly Awards (Online – Social Impact and Online – Documentary Series Category) with Tweed Video, a production company I freelance for. We produced multiple series for Verizon Media/In The Know and they trusted me with not only producing the series but also casting all of the series as well. When they gave me that enormous responsibility to cast for the multiple series I took it seriously and wanted to highlight more of my own people’s stories. I was tired of seeing our images in a negative light when I knew all of the positive things that black people do in their community. So to win those Telly’s meant a lot to me.
