@rodriguez545: Why did you decide to get into this industry?

I accidentally discovered filmmaking through my love of storytelling. I’m a writer by training, and I’ve published poems, short stories, lesbian erotica, creative nonfiction, and essays, including intersectional feminist media critiques on @bitch.flicks. I’ve always been drawn, though, to film and visual media. I’m the Marketing Director at Southern US forest protection nonprofit @DogwoodAlliance, and I wanted to connect people to forests in a deeply human and heartfelt way that goes beyond the science and stats of carbon sequestration and water purification. From that desire my documentary “Stories Happen in Forests” was born.
