That girls who look like me won’t believe their dreams are possible. When I was growing up, I don’t remember ever seeing directors who looked like me. It’s not that there aren’t women of color filmmakers and directors in the world. There are many. Beautiful, dynamic, talented artists. It’s just about opportunity. Hollywood is starting to pull out chairs and offer us seats at the table, but it’s happening in small increments. Representation is so important. (Photo by Arianne Edmonds)
