@bethalina13: Why did you decide to work in this industry? Even at an early age, working in entertainment was a no-brainer to me. It was one of the only things that ever felt “natural” when it came to deciding what I would do with the rest of my life. Fortunately, I was never one of those people who had a crisis of faith figuring out what they wanted to do professionally. The story that kicked off my path to be a “writer” (which I still put in parentheses because I feel like I can never live up to the weight of that title) was when my 2nd grade teacher asked everyone in class to write a story about a worm in an apple on a piece of paper shaped like an apple. I had to ask my teacher for about 10 more “apple pages” because I just kept writing. The following year, I started reading the “American Girl” book series – and decided that I could write my own version of the story better (I was quite self confident back in the day), so I wrote the story of a modern day American Girl. Later that year, I got really into “Goosebumps” books and wrote my own version of that too, but this time I started selling copies to my classmates for a couple dollars each. My teacher had to shut down my “entrepreneurial spirit,” but I still have friends to this day who own a copy of “The Evil Ooze.” In 5th grade, I started writing my first novel that was my own creation – “The Secret Cove.” My teacher would read my installments to my class every few weeks and it eventually got published in my elementary school library.
