“When you pitch, put the person you are pitching to in the story. Ask them if they have ever done or been in a similar situation as your protagonist.”

What pulled you into film and TV in the first place?

I loved going to the movies as a teenager. Escaping into different lives and worlds was a safe haven and magical place to live.

What do you think the industry gets most wrong about women like you?

That our stories are all the same and should be told the way the industry has always told them, which is contrary to the female perspective.

What does success mean to you?

Reaching large swaths of populations who learn more about themselves and humanity through your art and story.

What are you most proud of that most people don’t know about?

I have never compromised my artistic perspective for money.

What keeps you going when the industry makes it hard?

People who believe in me and the relationships I have fostered. Just when I think I’m getting out, I get a phone call from someone asking for a script.

What advice do you wish someone had given you earlier?

When you pitch, put the person you are pitching to in the story. Ask them if they have ever done or been in a similar situation as your protagonist.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I have a website that I keep up to date at kristingoodman.com, and I’m on Instagram. I also host a radio show in Santa Fe, Fade In To Finish — I love talking to other creatives, above and below the line.

Currently, I’m developing a female revenge western, an adaptation of a novel I’ve optioned, along with a feature drama I wrote about a woman living in rural New Mexico who finds community and her will to live. My feature film, #UnderTheInfluence, will be premiering at a film festival in October 2026. I can’t wait for the world to see this film.
